Historic luxury in London
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.

Four-Star

Europe’s first “grand hotel,” Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Langham, London opened in 1865. While back in the day this luxurious property was famous for high-tech amenities such as electric lights, hydraulic elevators and air conditioning, as well as a raft of celebrity and royal connections, today the Langham is best known for its outstanding drinking and dining opportunities.
Having recently undergone a major refurbishment, the hotel has never been in finer form: Marble floors and soaring ceilings in the foyer, purple leather banquettes and mirror detailing in the hip Artesian bar and guest rooms that combine the tradition of a Victorian building with all the comfortable modern touches we’ve come to expect from luxury hotels today. The Langham continues its grand tradition.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- A bold addition from Langham, London’s latest renovation is The Langham Club, an exclusive haven inspired by private lounges of the Victorian era accessible to Executive Room and Suite guests only.
- In the Regent wing of the London hotel you’ll find the Chuan Body + Soul spa, which offers beautifully designed treatment rooms where you can choose from Chinese-inspired massages, facials from renowned Swiss beauty brand Jacqueline Piotaz, the state-of-the-art gym or the impressive 52-foot-long swimming pool.
- There’s plenty of competition when it comes to great food and drink in London, but the Langham more than holds its own thanks to Palm Court, where afternoon tea takes center stage; modern British pub The Wigmore; and innovative cocktail lounge Artesian.
- If the Artesian has evenings taken care of at the Langham, then afternoons are all about the Palm Court, a grand mirror-bedecked hall with a decidedly 1920s vibe and the birthplace of afternoon tea.
- The latest menu from The Langham, London's must-visit cocktail lounge, Artesian Entitled Duality, showcases this theme through 14 cocktails, paired to represent seven dual elements. Each pair of drinks draws from a common element, like an ingredient, a cocktail style, a technique, etc.
