VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Rosewood Hotel Georgia offers its guests one of the best locations — if not the best — for exploring the British Columbian City. An iconic hotel opened in 1927, Rosewood Hotel Georgia was once a playground for the movie stars of the early 20th century. It recently underwent a complete overhaul, reducing the number of rooms and revamping the lobby areas with a fantastic contemporary art collection that showcases many of Canada’s top painters and sculptors.
The chic boutique hotel also now offers tastefully appointed rooms with luxe touches such as Pratesi linens and heated bathroom floors, and a superb staff — including notably outstanding concierges — who will instantly make you feel at home, from offering you use of the hotel’s chauffeured Bentley to providing outstanding restaurant recommendations.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Situated on the corner of Howe and Georgia streets in the heart of downtown Vancouver, you really can’t ask for a better location. You’re literally across the street from the Vancouver Art Gallery, a block from bustling Robson Street, the city’s prime shopping destination and a short walk to gorgeous Stanley Park.
- The hotel’s been around since 1927 but recently underwent a major facelift, and the results are stunning. The lobby still retains an old world feel thanks to wood paneling and Art Deco detailing, but colorful modern art adds a chic, youthful feel to the space.
- The concierges here are phenomenal. Not only will they give you spot-on dining, shopping and sight-seeing recommendations, they’ll even follow up with you each day to make sure you enjoyed yourself.
- Whether you’re enjoying a classic cocktail at 1927 Lobby Lounge (try the signature Hotel Georgia — it’s divine) or digging into the seared sablefish for room service, know that the food and drink served at the hotel is excellent, much of it locally grown and sustainable.
- Rosewood Hotel Georgia is a great spot to bring the whole family. The kids' room service menu, for example, even offers babies a range of local, seasonal and organic fruit and vegetable purees, served warm and with an infant-friendly bowl and spoon.
Things to Know
- You’ll find an amazing art collection right inside the hotel featuring works by contemporary Canadian artists like David Robinson, Alan Wood and Jack Shadbolt.
- Take advantage of the fragrance butler. The hotel has curated a selection of perfumes for you to use— simply call the operator and within minutes, a butler will arrive at your door with a tray of assorted fragrances for you to spritz on.
- Chic boutique hotels aren’t necessarily known for being the best venue to bring along the kids, but Rosewood Hotel Georgia is different. You can also easily request items like en suite wireless baby monitors, kid-sized bath robes, baby skincare products and in-room bottle warmers.
The Rooms
- Decorated in a cream, beige, pale blue and mauve color palette accented with dark wood and elegant patterned drapes, carpets and throw pillows, the rooms are imbued with luxurious and high quality materials at every turn.
- The bed sits in the center of the room, dressed in crisp Pratesi linens and featuring a curved, tufted beige headboard that neatly stores two reading lights you turn on and off by tapping them.
- Ample closets — which even feature hanging lavender sachets so your clothes will smell amazing — offer plenty of space, and the private bar area (which includes a Nespresso pod machine along with the mini-bar and glassware) is neatly hidden behind a white wood door.
- Every guest bathroom in the Vancouver boutique hotel features quadruple rainfall shower heads in the glassed-in, walk-in shower and heated black marble floors so your toes stay toasty when you wake up in the morning.
The Restaurants
- Native Vancouverite David Hawksworth is one of Western Canada’s most celebrated chefs, and at his restaurant located on the ground floor of the hotel, you’ll feast on a bevy of local ingredients cooked in a contemporary style befitting of the chic environs.
- One favorite Hawksworth offering is the roasted Pacific sablefish, a mild but rich tasting white fish also referred to as black cod. The accompaniments change regularly but are often Asian-inspired, such as lap cheong, pea tendrils, pickled shiitake and crispy yam.
- The hotel’s signature restaurant also serves breakfast and brunch, and we were smitten with the savory chorizo hash, made with chopped potatoes, grilled fennel and cubes of spiced chorizo, all topped with two sunny side up eggs and drizzled with smoked tomato vinaigrette.
- Reflections is Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s hidden outdoor bar and lounge, located on the fourth floor patio near the swimming pool. Cabanas, lounge chairs and a great fire pit lend a beachy atmosphere to the spot, which is a great place for a bite and quick drink pre-dinner.
