Hotel 41

London's exclusive boutique hotel
VERIFIED LUXURY
There's a warmth that permeates throughout Hotel 41, giving this snug establishment the feel of an exclusive members’ club; it’s a real home away from home in the heart of the British capital.

There’s a welcome desk at street level, but check-in proper happens an elevator ride away in the reassuringly traditional, but suitably decadent environment of the guests-only Executive Lounge. Complimentary glass of champagne in hand, you’re welcomed to Hotel 41 like an old friend.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Occupying the top floor of a historic building opposite the Royal Mews, site of the Queen’s stables, the hotel comprises just 28 rooms and suites, plus two self-contained apartments.
  • The Executive Lounge, with its conservatory roof, roaring fire and wood paneling, is the center of goings-on at Hotel 41.
  • Sports fans can take advantage of Hotel 41’s innovative buddy program, too, which pairs members of the managerial team with guests for everything from golf to trampolining.
  • A honesty bar runs all day (staff can help you mix a drink, if needed), afternoon tea is on offer, evening canapés are served, and the buffet switches to heartier fare — cheeses, cutlets, pies to name a few — by night in The Executive Lounge.
Things to Know
  • There’s no spa or gym at Hotel 41, but you can call on the services of freelance therapists for in-room treatments, and have access to the nearby PureGym fitness center open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • The luxury hotel provides towels, bottles of water and other workout essentials, so heading to the health club is just as easy as accessing an onsite facility.
  • While the boutique hotel doesn’t offer a formal restaurant, you’ll have plenty to choose from in The Executive Lounge.
The Rooms
  • The black-and-white color scheme found throughout the London hotel’s public areas continues into the bedrooms, creating a dramatic look softened by the use of traditional-style furnishings such as dark wood writing desks and brass lighting fixtures.
  • Each room is a different shape, thanks to the layout of this old building, but they’re furnished in the same way.
  • Expect king-size beds (in all rooms except executive doubles), entertainment centers and mini-bars tucked away behind mirrored cabinets, and characterful prints on the walls.
  • Tasty house-made treats await you in your room following arrival, and wintertime turndowns include hot water bottles and a fire being lit in the grate (most rooms have open fireplaces).
The Restaurants
  • Start your day in The Executive Lounge, where morning selections are served until late. A continental spread includes a daily changing signature smoothie while a full a la carte menu features classic options like eggs Benedict alongside more unusual treats like Josper grilled sirloin steak with bubble and squeak mash, or coconut kombucha muesli.
  • Salads, soups, sandwiches and hearty meals like rib-eye steak or fish and chips are available all afternoon and evening. A limited late-night dining menu, including Natal lamb curry, club sandwiches and pizza, takes over after that.
  • In addition to the à la carte options, Hotel 41 offers all-day complimentary treats by way of a well-stocked buffet that includes ice cream, candies and nibbles like nuts and olives.
