Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley
Located on the northern end of Napa, in the quaint town of Calistoga, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is a grand indoor-outdoor haven that showcases wine country living at its finest. Although everything at the resort is new — it opened in November 2021 — there is a rustic and refined elegance that grounds the hotel making it feel aged like a fine wine.
The lobby overlooks an artificial lake, and picturesque meeting spaces, from a wedding barn to an open-air ballroom, are dotted throughout the property — which sits in the middle of a small 4.7-acre vineyard. The Four Seasons Napa boasts 85 guest rooms, two pools, two hot tubs, a bocce ball court, a fitness center, an eight-room spa and two restaurants. At Truss, you can look forward to superb California seasonal cuisine, while playful Mexican fare is served poolside at Campo. There’s also a kids club, a tasting room, a winemaking facility and complimentary bikes to explore the surrounding winemaking region.
- The Napa hotel pays homage to the history of the land in many thoughtful ways throughout the property. A portrait depicts a Mexican American woman harvesting grapes in the lobby, a nod to the local farmworkers who are essential to the winemaking industry. The spa is named Talisa, a word that means “flowing water” in Wappo, the language spoken by the Native Americans who originally inhabited this area of Northern California.
- Elusa is the resort’s onsite vineyard, winery and tasting room from famed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. The estate-grown cabernet sauvignon is revolutionary. The winery offers exclusive tasting experiences to hotel guests — so be sure to take advantage of them.
- The rooms, a series of two-story cottages arranged around the pools, each have a patio or balcony. The décor is earthy equine sophistication meets moody masculine luxury. The walls are dark and details farmhouse, with layered textures and metallic accents.
- As expected in Napa Valley, the food does not disappoint. Everything from the English muffins on the room service breakfast menu to the bucatini in the cacio e pepe is made in house. While the signature Truss fine-dining restaurant is not open yet, an exceptional food and wine experience can be found at the hotel’s Calistoga’s Living Room at Truss. The eatery serves cracker-thin crisp pizza and a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth grilled fish.
- Relax at the luxury hotel’s 6,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Spa Talisa. The intimate spa has an outdoor soaking pool built around an ancient rock. Treatments include an indulgent seed-to-skin facial that incorporates local botanicals and a restorative algae salt scrub followed by an invigorating massage.
- Calistoga is pretty far up in the Napa Valley. Depending on traffic, it can be a two-hour drive from San Francisco, so plan accordingly.
- Most wineries nearby require a reservation, and the Four Seasons concierge can plan a lovely itinerary. A few favorites include Clos Pegase, Davis Estates and Tamber Bey.
- The kid-friendly resort offers complimentary onsite childcare. Drop the kids off at the camp and spend the day wine tasting. Children are also welcome to play in the kid's pool and hot tub and participate in Kids For All Seasons programming.
