Almost everywhere you turn in Vancouver, you’ll encounter a Fairmont hotel. In downtown, there’s the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the ultra-chic Fairmont Pacific Rim and the relaxed, modern Fairmont Waterfront, Vancouver.

The latter offers 489 airy rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows offering gorgeous ocean, mountain or urban views. The property prides itself on its sustainability programs and on helping you connect with the local community.

In the lovely 2,100-square-foot terrace garden, staff raises bees and grows herbs, vegetables and fruits for the hotel’s Arc Restaurant. The Fairmont Waterfront has been making honey from its garden hives since 2008 and partners with a Vancouver community organization that trains local disadvantaged populations to work with bees.

Our Inspector's Highlights

The 50-foot pool on the third-floor terrace has expansive views of the waterfront and North Shore Mountains. The 24-hour fitness room shares those same vistas through its panoramic windows.
For an extra luxe experience, opt for one of the 50 Fairmont Gold rooms, where you’ll have access to a private concierge and to the Gold lounge, where breakfast, afternoon snacks and evening canapés are available. The Gold floor also has a sizable terrace with mountain and water views.
Arc Restaurant serves a straightforward menu that emphasizes regional products, reflecting its philosophy that “Life is complicated. Good food shouldn’t be.”
During the summer, tour the gardens or meet with the hotel’s “bee butler,” who oversees the bee program. A Vancouver Island distillery brews a custom honey gin for the hotel, available in the lounge and guest rooms.
Arc Bar offers live music nightly, featuring local songwriters and musicians.

Things to Know

As a guest of the Vancouver hotel, you have “dine and sign” privileges at Fairmont’s other downtown properties, enabling you to charge meals at these hotels to your Waterfront room.
While the Vancouver hotel doesn’t have a spa, staff can arrange for in-room massage therapy, as well as personal training services. The Fairmont Waterfront health club offers a whirlpool tub and steam rooms.
As Vancouver’s first hotel to provide electric charging stations, the Waterfront waives the parking fee for electric cars, while hybrid vehicles receive a 50 percent parking discount.
If you’re staying at the Fairmont Waterfront before a cruise, here’s a nice perk: hotel staff can deliver your bags from your room directly to your shipboard cabin.

The Rooms

Furnished in beiges and dark browns, the standard guest rooms range in size from 360 to 430 square feet. They feature work desks with multimedia hubs and spacious glass-enclosed rain showers.
The main differentiator between the room categories is the view. Your accommodation may feature vistas of the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains, the city’s industrial waterfront the downtown cityscape.
If you’d like your own private patio, request one of the third-floor terrace rooms that face the hotel’s garden.
The grandest of the luxe property’s 24 suites is the 2,000-square-foot split-level Royal Suite, where Queen Elizabeth II stayed during her 2002 Vancouver visit.

Nearby Attractions

Opposite Canada Place, the cruise ship terminal and the waterfront, the luxury hotel is an easy stroll from the historic Gastown district, one of the city’s dining hubs.
If you’re in town for business, the Vancouver Convention Centre (which is part of Canada Place) conveniently sits across the street.
To encourage you to get active as you explore the city, the hotel offers complimentary bikes (for members of its frequent stay program) and hosts a twice-a-week early morning run club. The Seawall walking and cycling path that extends around Vancouver’s scenic Stanley Park is across the street from the property.
Chinatown is about eight minutes from the downtown Vancouver hotel. Check out the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, a classical Ming Dynasty-era garden that was the first of its kind outside of China.
