Fairmont Southampton
Bermuda's sprawling retreat
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
Perched atop Bermuda's highest point, the pink Fairmont Southampton commands stunning views, either of the clear blue ocean, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse or the Turtle Hill Golf Club.
The sprawling resort is spread out over 100 acres, with almost 600 guest rooms and suites, a private pink sand beach, an 18-hole championship par-3 golf course and the idyllic Willow Stream Spa. It’s the largest hotel on the island, but you’ll never feel lost in the crowd.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Nine onsite restaurants, cafés and lounges cater to every taste and mood without ever needing to set foot off of the resort grounds.
- Make sure to save an entire day for the 31,000-square-feet Willow Stream Spa, where you can easily lose track of time. Order a healthy spa lunch to enjoy by the pool if you want to linger.
- There are multiple relaxation lounges for men, women and couples, plus separate eucalyptus steam inhalation rooms and saunas, as well as an indoor heated spa pool with a sun deck and two outdoor whirlpool Jacuzzis just for spa guests.
- All guests have access to Fairmont’s private beach club, a secluded cove with Bermuda’s unique pink sand, located down the hill from the luxury hotel (free shuttles run continuously back and forth).
- For a more private experience, reserve a beach cabana, which includes a variety of perks from chilled fruit to a selection of water toys, such as stand-up paddleboards, water noodles, floats and beach balls.
Things to Know
- Splurge for a room on the Fairmont Gold Floor for extra perks. Privileges include continental breakfast in the lounge, computer use, an honor bar and daily complimentary cocktail canapés in the early evening.
- Bermuda is small — only 20.5 square miles — making it easy to get around and explore. However, be aware that tourists aren’t permitted to rent cars and that it’s a 20-minute cab ride to the town of Hamilton from the Bermuda hotel.
- The weather in Bermuda matches that of North Carolina, so it’s not the typical level of heat that you’d experience in the nearby Caribbean. Beach facilities, for example, are open from April through October, with the best weather from late May through late September.
The Rooms
- All of Fairmont Southampton’s rooms and suites are quite generous in size and have private balconies to take in the stunning ocean views.
- A stay on the Fairmont Gold Floor, a hotel-within-a-hotel, takes your experience to another level of luxury. You’ll skip the lobby check-in and be escorted directly to the private Fairmont Gold floor reception area for a meet-and-greet with the dedicated staff.
- For a truly over-the-top stay, book one the two corner penthouse suites, which are 2,900 square feet and boast wraparound balconies.
- Décor throughout the rooms at the Bermuda hotel draws inspiration from the island’s bright landscape but always with Fairmont’s attention to luxurious detail.
The Restaurants
- Jump out of the pool and build your own cheeseburger at the Burger Bar at Wickets or order one of its signature dishes, like the Juan de Bermudez burger with Manchego cheese, chimichurri and Serrano ham, and pair it with a frosty milkshake.
- For a sublime dinner, head to the historic Waterlot Inn, which has been serving steaks in style for almost 350 years.
- A delightful option for a more casual dinner or just drinks is The Dock at the Waterlot. Sunsets from the lounge-like patio are epic, and when they are accompanied by live music from excellent local musicians and a creative cocktail, you may never want to leave.
